Why hello there!

It’s a long weekend. The greatest news for all the labors, are having public holidays. Who doesn’t like having a break every now and then after pouring all your hard work into a certain job? Drenching all your energy by repeating the same routine every single day, for at least 9 hours a day, for at least five days a week. The happiest day would definitely be Friday. Nobody likes Monday, that’s why we call it Monday Blues and refuses to go to work every first day of the week. You are forced to wake up early at the beginning of the week, jamming all your way to work, carrying Monday Blues attitude hoping and wishing you could sleep more and the weekends will never end. In less than 48 hours, we will all suffer a disease, that is highly contagious, the Monday Blue disorder.

Lets not spoil our Saturday night, shall we?

Have you ever imagined that what would life be if you have lost your sense of sight? You will not be able to see the sunlight, gaze upon the midnight stars, enjoy the beautiful sunrise or sunset, never know what rainbow looks like and never have the chance to see light anymore. Would you still travel to the beautiful beaches? Would your life have a meaning to it anymore? What would you do? Will you do all it takes to regain your sight or will you give up on life?

Honestly, I could not imagine what will happen to myself. Would I fall in love? Would I be happy? Lets be realistic, no one is ever satisfy with what they already have. And I believe you do too. I am never satisfied with myself, I keep asking myself “What if”. We are always hiding from the truth, aren’t we? Did we ever pause and ask ourselves, why? I guess none of us have the time for that.

Allow me to share a little story with you.

I was handed a drink in a space where there are few people chatting and chuckling away.. The doorknob turned, he came out from this little room, all I could see is darkness. He held my hand and introduced himself politely. I could sense his kindness and friendliness. He gained my trust in less than a minute. I raised my arm and put it on his shoulder, and our journey began..

Without hesitation, I followed him into the room. My life changed ever since. I kept asking myself, what if I hesitated and ran away without following him into the room? What if we never met? What if I was given a second chance to decide and think over? What if.. is all that I could question myself.

To be continued..

Have you ever wondered what life would be like after you’ve graduated? Ever thought that it would be excited getting hired for your first job? Wear all the nice clothes and shoes you want to work? Getting paid might probably be the happiest thing.

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was being hired. Yes it’s a happy and excited news cause I wont have to waste time doing nothing and spending money like water anymore. Nope, not whining about my new job. But.. Life has been hectic ever since. All I do was wake up at dawn, get stuck in jam, Microsoft Excel, copy paste, lunch, Microsoft Excel, copy paste, get stuck in jam again, and last but not least, finally home. That’s my daily routine for the past one week. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean that I don’t enjoy my work. The workplace is fine, I mean if given a choice, everyone would choose to be in my position. Why?

First of all, my workplace is a very free kinda workplace where people enjoy their work with no pressure at all, I swear. My colleagues do whatever they want, even playing Ping Pong. Can you imagine having a Ping Pong table in the middle of your workplace? Besides, colleagues come and go in anytime they want and they can have their breaks at anytime of the day. How cool is that?!

People walk in and out, and they might even disappear into thin air. It was my first week, so I was kind of being discipline and all, so while I was working, I noticed some of them were nowhere to be seen. Guess where they went? Some went to have a little break and some, I don’t even have any idea where they went. And I was amazed that some of them even chat through the whole time at work, not even placing their hands on the computers. Freedom at workplace, perhaps. And no one keeps track of whatever you’re doing with your computer. Yes, no pressure at all. Imagine how fun life would be if all the companies are like that?

I managed to make some friends. Only some because well, I am reserved and demure.  Therefore, I don’t usually make the first move. And I don’t like to be noticed and be in the limelight. If some of you happen to be my colleague, sorry that I did not take the initiative to talk to you. Its my nature and I strangely behave like that. It will take time for me to adapt. Perhaps a month or two. I will try to communicate. J

This post came a little earlier cause I am afraid that I might get too tired after work tomorrow. Haven’t had myself adapted to waking up early yet. It will definitely be better sooner. Hope everything goes on well for me, fingers-crossed.

Good night!

Why hello there!

So, how do you like my hair? Interested in giving your hair a new twist? Care for a new look? Ask me how!

One fine morning, I woke up to an unusual craving. I was craving for nasi lemak at Village Park, which is located at Damansara. It was quite a distance, but distance was never a complication to me. So my family and I decided to pay another visit to Damansara as I needed to print my resume for the upcoming interview that I was supposed to attend to. Printer went out of ink so I had to print it at Mommy’s office, which coincidently located quite a number of shops away from Village Park!

As a typical Malaysian, I always crave for food like nasi lemak or roti canai. Some people even have them as supper! Typical Malaysians always do that, no? Like during “yamcha” sessions with buddies and acquaintances.

So I was on a strict diet before this and I didn’t allow myself to have rice for that particular period. But sometimes, I do crave for rice. Never a big fan of rice but nasi lemak bungkus has always been a favorite. Sorry if my diet doesn’t make me seem like I lose a single pound. L

In order to prepare nasi lemak, fragrant rice is being cleaned and then soaked in water with pandan leaves and coconut milk and its being steamed for a period of time to let out the aroma and flavor. Therefore, the rice will have a nice fragrant to it and it can be eaten accompanied with dishes like anchovies, sambal, hard-boiled egg, and sliced cucumbers. Nasi lemak is very common in our country and we can easily find them in most of the mamak stalls.
Village Park nasi lemak with fried chicken, which is also nominated as The Best Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley 2010.

The chicken is being fried into golden brown and served with warm creamy fragrant rice. If you’re not a fan of fragrant rice, no worries! They have normal white rice too. The sambal is not too spicy, it is suitable for all ages. Sliced cucumbers are moist and crunchy! It always pisses me off when I am being served with dried and old looking cucumbers. Not that I consume them all, but no one like old looking and horrible vegetables right? Might not be the right term but.. you know what I mean.

This restaurant is also visited by prominent figures! They have their picture hung across the cashier table. And a gentle reminder, be careful where you park your vehicles because the authorities do tow vehicles away that abrupt traffic! And you might even get a summon ticket stuck on your windscreen. So, please park at your own risk.

Tuesday 7 May 2013

Last Wednesday was Labor Day. Nope, it has nothing to do with me since I am having my holidays for a few months now. The good news is I have gotten a job and I am lucky to say that it is my ideal job. I have been applying for jobs every now and then for writer positions without having a Degree in Journalism. So to cut the story short, a company has called me up for an interview and lucky enough, I got offered. I was so happy, no words could describe. So I had the Appointment Letter signed and I am off to work starting Monday, 13th May 2013. J Nonetheless, I will still continue to update my blog on every Monday and Thursday. I apologize for not updating last week and early this week.

So.. during Labor Day, My family and I decided to go for a little getaway up north to my favorite island. Could you guess where? Yes! Penang Island. In my last entry, I have written about the Famous Char Koey Teow in Lorong Selamat. No doubt, I went back for the third time. This time with my daddy, mommy, brothers, aunties, uncle, grandpa and grandma.

Younger bro, Elder bro, Daddy & Mommy

No more babbling about Char Koey Teow, this time round would be one of my favorites, Nasi Kandar. Nasi Kandar is originated from Penang. The word Nasi Kandar was given to this local delicacy because hawkers used to carry a pole (kandar) on their shoulder with rice (nasi) meals on each side. In the modern society, hawkers do not sell rice meals using poles anymore, instead, they rent or buy up proper stalls but the term Nasi Kandar remains. It is usually accompanied by various side dishes such as fried chicken, mutton curry, beef curry, stir fry vegetables, cabbage, fish curry, steam brinjals, squid curry, steam ladies finger, and the list goes on and on depending on the stall.

As we were driving around town, after our visit to the pasar malam at Batu Feringhi, we saw people gushing at the little stall along Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling. So we decided to park our cars along the roads and have our little food adventure. To our surprise, people were queuing up and long lines were formed. As we were busy chatting away in the line, the aroma of the dishes filled the air as the clock strikes 10p.m. The smell of spices and curries filled the entire line and you can see sparkles in the eyes of the people queuing. As we move closer to the stall, more and more people came flooding the line. By the time our turn arrived, the line could have been a few hundred meters long! After a long queue for about 20minutes, it was finally our turn!

I decided to have an equal share with my brother and mommy cause I know I will not be able to finish the entire plate. So of all the dishes, we took stir-fry vegetables, mutton curry, and fried egg with onion stuffing with mixed curry spread across the warm white rice. While daddy endures himself with mixed curry, beef curry, hard-boiled egg and steam brinjal in hot sauce. We also had two pieces of aromatic and crunchy fried chicken for the five of us to share. The fried chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy on the inside. With all the spiciness, it is best to also endure yourself with an iced tea also known as “teh ais” which is the iced version of the “teh tarik”, pull tea.

Our mixed curry rice with stir-fry vegetables, mutton curry and fried egg with onion stuffing.

Daddy’s mixed curry rice with beef curry, hard-boiled egg and steam brinjal in hot sauce.

And last but not least, the aromatic and crunchy friend chicken that is tender and juicy on the inside.

As they were munching away, I noticed the people nearby our tables are also indulging themselves with the variety of dishes. Guess people were too busy enjoying their long awaited Nasi Kandar because their plates were completely clean! Guess the long queue made them appreciate their food even more. We have our plates completely clean as well. We appreciate our food after the long 20 minutes queue and indulged ourselves for not more than 15minutes. It was worth the wait although the line never seemed to move.

My pictures don’t seem appealing because I am not a professional photographer and probably I was too weak and hungry after the long queue. Sorry for the poor photos, will do better next time. Please don’t be afraid of queuing, you’ll never know what you’ll get in the end. Probably it will turn out to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you never try, you will never know.
